Today brought a mix of emotions that I’m still unpacking. I woke up with excitement and nerves, knowing my Paint & Sip fundraiser was scheduled for this evening. It was something I had poured so much time, creativity, and heart into—not just because I love to paint, but because it was in support Regionals Canada's official charity Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.
But sometimes, life has other plans. The event had to be postponed last-minute. While I was initially disappointed, I’m choosing to focus on the silver lining: the incredible support from my community and local Starbucks! This event is postponed to next week! . It's important to be kind to one another especially when things don’t go according to plan.
It felt especially fitting that this happened on International Pageant Day. A day that celebrates confidence, community service, and the journey behind the crown. I spent the rest of my day editing my empower her woman of influence town tour video, finalizing my introduction for the Regional Canada Pageant, and reflecting on what it means to represent Petawawa. It’s not just a name on a sash, it’s a reminder of my roots, my story, and the people who continue to shape me.
There’s a Bible verse I’ve been carrying with me lately: from Isaiah 61:3 “Beauty from ashes.” And today, I felt that in real time. Even when things feel like they’re falling apart, sometimes they’re just falling into place. My fundraiser will still happen just not today. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll be even better because of the wait.
So here’s to unexpected turns, quiet resilience, and finding purpose in every part of the journey.
